Remember the kid in your grade 2 class who wore glasses? Or how about the classmate who had red hair? Maybe for awhile you or someone in the class called them names like 4 eyes or fire engine. But that was only because preschool law states “making fun of everything that is not like the majority will gain you power.” And this is a constant the world over. Because if a school’s majority of students wear glasses or has red hair, the law will still exist, and just expand to other “different” criteria ( like height for example).  But there is one big exception to this rule. And that’s if the marginalized child got sick, lost his parents, or even died, the law of power rules change immediately. The entire class would cease all marginalization on the student.  With mournful faces, they would even write a card with all their best wishes to the student or his family. Maybe even give them their pudding cup at lunch. But the last thing that ANYONE in that class would ever do again, is bring up the kids glasses or the hair color. Why? Because even a second grader knows that red hair or needing glasses is not their peer’s fault nor choice,  and that picking on a hurt child is WRONG! Because power is only good when won fair and square. They know that student didn’t choose their glasses or hair themselves, it was just like that when they were born.  Although terms like genetics and hereditary won’t be taught to them for a few years; grade 2 kids already know the main idea behind them.  That some things cannot be helped, they just are.

Fast forward to adulthood and I think we can all agree the grade 2 power paradigm still exists, but indeed it has found new and different criteria. Things like money, social class, the area one lives in, or even marital status become power points.  Seems that the more adults learn about, the more they get to marginalize it to gain power.  And when things like religion hit the scene, it gives individuals a whole new slew of things you can pick on people for. Enter Politics into that mix, and now we have people even killing each other for power. But there is no classroom of peers in the adult world to sign cards for families anymore.   Heck adult “power laws” state they can use religion or political affiliation to protect themselves from being persecuted while they pick on the red-headed kid.

And that’s where the teacher come’s in and hopefully not too late. The teacher’s name is “human rights” whose “adult classroom” is the size of the third planet from the sun. And the classroom keeps getting new students with many different issues everyday. One of those new student’s name is transsexuality who’s medical condition is also beyond their choosing and just is. Their family has been at the school for mellenia but a majority vote keeps saying the student is brand new. Sadly, the newbe hasn’t even met the “teacher” yet. That’s because its still the morning of the first day of school and the bell hasn’t rung. So the adult students see that new kid by the swing set and rush over to bully them. Because not only does the group lack understanding of their new peer, the teacher hasn’t told them they were not allowed to hate them yet. For in adult classes, the “hate first and ask questions later ” rule reigns supreme. 

As Transsexuality stands up to fight this battle head on, it knows that the teacher may be coming soon.  But it knows that’s of little consequence since the staff can’t watch everyone at all times. Now a group of bullies start abusing the new student, while the bystanders begin to circle round, hoping to see if there might be some power leftovers after the bullies go in for the kill . Transsexuality is now receiving low blow punches and kicks while 2 bullies called “Right-wing” and “Media” hold the victim’s arms so it can’t block or retaliate.  It seems like a loosing battle, but the new kid had been made strong by having this happen far to often.  And all that runs through Transsexuality’s mind as the dramatic show of barbarianism rages on, is not the shock of pain in each blow, nor the hope the teacher can get there sooner to break it up. Our victim just wishes more than anything that a Grade 2 Class would start running this school from now on as they at least have morals and still understand that Genetics and Heredity can’t be helped.
